A Hi makes a difference!
i was walking from the bus-stop to the hospital today and a girl from another cg posted to the same hospital was walking in front. i knew her back in secondary school when we were in the same jap class. of course, without any hesitation, i went forward, tapped her and said hi! tt's wat ppl usually do right? i do that even for ppl i just got to know in this surgery posting, let alone for my ex-jap classmate! nothing much ma...
to my surprise, she said, "hey gerri... u know i'm very happee today that u said hi to me. u know u're e only one in ur cg who says hi to me?"
haha... i never saw it as such a big deal until today. just a simple hi could actually make someone's day! and then i started to think about how some of the days when i really din feel like talking and hence din say hi to ppl i bumped into. what about those days when i see someone i obviously know is in the same faculty... our eyes meet and we immediately turn away and walk past each other like strangers?
every morning when i enter the hospital lobby, there's always this security person at the entrance who smiles and say good morning to me. now i realize it always makes my day a lil brighter when he/she does that! what a good way to start a day!
all it takes is a smile and a hi... it bridges two strangers together, strengthens the thin film between two acquaintances... how powerful! i shall smile n say hi more often from now on... haha!
