Being part of something great...

it's a good feeling... to know that you belong to the best class or group... to participate in something with the most talented ppl around you... to contribute and put in your effort along with the rest to make the task the best.

i've had many opportunities to experience all that since the age of 6! still remember my very first public performance in kindergarten. It was a big event held in Kallang theatre cos it was some anniversary i think. since i had organ background, i was made the electronic keyboard soloist with many others playing the pianica (erm... think tt's wat it's called. it's this small lil keyboard with a mouthpiece... so they blow into it and play the keyboard at the same time.) think at such a young age, i probably just thought "haha! this is so fun!" but in retrospect, think that very first step out was kinda like the start of a performing career for me.

the satisfaction of being able to put up a great performance prob made me feel good... so subsequently, i joined band in primary 2 up till jc2!! participated in competitions, concerts... the same good feeling never left me. winning the SYF's, putting up spectacular concerts with tiptop reviews... they kept me wanting more! n tt's why i somehow never gave up band to join any other eca's. the most memorable experience has got to be the time when my jc band won the best band in SYF. up till now, the exact scene when the results were announced and all the jumping and hugging still replay in my mind once in a while. this memory always makes me smile and feel really proud.

although ppl always say it's the journey and not the destination that counts... it's the process and not the end that matters. ultimately, the final win seals the whole thing into a nice package of memory isn't it? true, we learn soooo much during the preparation, gained soooo much as we worked... but the prize at the end of it acknowledges our effort, makes it all worthwhile and spurs us towards the next prize!

i admit i enjoy being in the best girls' school in our sunny island, one of the top classes in sec 4, one of the smartest classes in jc and now one of the most competitive faculties in uni. i love being part of something great... not so much cos it makes ppl associate me as great too... but more cos it motivates me, moulds me n improves me into someone better.

the past few days was again another chance for me to work with extremely impressive ppl. we rushed down from various hospitals to dance and rehearse... props ppl, video crew, lighting and sound crew worked through the nite... all the effort and fun... i'm proud to say i'm part of this great team that clinched the best play at playhouse (even though my role was minimal compared to the rest)!

haha! indeed... being part of the best team is really impt to me... i thrive in such a condition and grow up to become a better person. the satisfaction it brings also motivates me towards greater things in life!
