And the horror begins...
haha... 7th month is officially over. yay... no more mom saying "dun go swimming ah! the ghosts will pull your leg!", "dun come home too late!". sigh... if u hear this for more than 20 years, it gets sian...
as the gates closes and all those hungry ghosts go back to their home, some horror in my life is about to begin!! AAHHH!!! PAEDS is starting!!!
i have a love-hate relationship with paediatrics posting. i love playing with those cute, wide-eyed kids, carrying them and googoo gaga-ing to them. they really make your day, especially when they look at you and smile at you so sweetly. how can anyone not love them? awww...
but... my heart wrenches and breaks apart whenever i see this frail lil body fighting to breathe, all those funny-looking tubes sticking out of the tiny baby and humongous machines surrounding them. as i see the worried and tearing parents, i struggle to fight back my tears too. looking at those kids with incurable and terminal diseases, i feel like screaming out loud "why aren't they given a chance at all?!?!"
and of course, the academic knowledge required in paediatrics is humongous. although they're like tiny adults, their problems are rarely similar to those of adults. because they're such a dependable group of people, we can't afford to be careless about anything.
paediatricians are admirable people. they need to have a really big heart and yet, not be too emotionally weak to handle all these emotional stress everyday. most of them probably exhibit some obsessive compulsive traits too so that they are able to cover every single detail in the treatment process. that said, i strongly believe i can't be a paediatrician for sure. haha!
