Surgery exams
i'm so glad the surgery papers are finally over...
think the osse paper and mcq paper were quite an experience... the osse paper was literally a test of speed and reflex action. we've only 3 minutes per question!! one look at the slide, we hafta immediately know the diagnosis and be able to answer the subsequent questions. no time to dwell on and wonder where the abnormality is. u either see it NOW or never... cos there's no time for u linger on! and then they expect to us to come up with the management, complications, etc with a snap of the fingers...
the mcq was a crazee test of mental endurance and stamina. 46!?!!? pages of 180!!!!???!!!! mcq's!! by the time i reached qn 90, i was half dead and groggy already. looking at how i still have half the journey left, i felt somewhat xian and almost felt like giving up. gosh... reminds me of the 2.4km run which i haven't done since i finished napfa in jc2.
haha... i can't help but parallel the osse and mcq test to what a surgeon does at work. surgeons are mostly quick-witted ppl who make quick diagnoses and give quick solutions to the problems. they see a lump, diagnose it immediately and chop it off asap. the osse test was exactly like that! haha!
and then the mcq... 3 hours of concentration on minute details... that's what a surgeon does in the OT!! for every single stitch in the intestine, providing haemostasis for every single bleeding vessel, every lil structures that they must avoid cutting... they need full concentration and endurance throughout the entire op! what's more, some marathon ops last as long as 12 hours!! 3 hours of mcq? that should be nothing to them man! haha!
think surgery is really not my forte... haha...
