1900-912-XXXX

aren't we sick of such shows already?? Campus superstar just ended today... and there's Superband, Singapore Idol and some show for the "Wannabes" coming up soon.

In the first season of Singapore Idol, i supported Taufik and voted 5 times for him. In Project Superstar, i supported Kelly and voted 10 times for her. In Superhost, I supported Lee Teng but i decided not to waste money. In Campus superstar, i supported Zhiyang and Teresa but resorted to mere praying n hoping. In Star Idol, i just laughed at their miserable acting skills.

okai... maybe i'm not THAT sick of such shows yet... they're still a really good form of entertainment and i always love it when talented ppl get to be showcased to the world. what i'm sick of is everything's turning into a money-spinning project. All the gimmicks, the ideas, the style and format of the competition even, are aimed towards grabbing as much money from the public as possible. (like coming up with cd's and including the sales results in the competition in Project Superstar, having the competition in 2 parts and so the supporters hafta vote TWICE in Campus Superstar!)

i guess if i stand in the shoes of the producers, money does become one of the main driving force for putting up a show. it's after all an entertainment industry and it wun survive if the shows don't bring in the dough. less $$ also means less capital to make a greater show next...

the advent of American Idol really made a big change in the type of tv shows we watch nowadays. the idea of public voting is becoming so rampant. before someone thinks of an even more lucrative idea for making tv shows, think this trend may be here to stay huh? then again, how long can the audience last? before we all get sick of dialing 1900-112-XXXX altogether...
