Pleasure of good company
It is always so nice to be with good company!
I still remember how we rgs band girls would make small gifts for our section mates and batch mates before a concert or competition. We would spend weeks pondering about what gift to get or make, hop down to the supermarket or spotlight (our favourite craft stall) someday to get the raw materials and then spend another few days making the gifts one by one. Every message on the gift was personalized and filled with words of encouragement and appreciation.
And on the day itself, there'll be a short period of gift exchanging just before the performance. Whether it lightened the mood and tension in all of us or boosted our morale in preparation for the concert, i thought it was a very crucial part of the whole experience.
I had thought those days of camaraderie are over and i may never get to experience such an innocent and sweet support from a group of ppl. I had a nice surprise when steven, one of my teammates, suddenly handed me a photoshop-ped photo with a message at the back letting me know that my efforts towards the team are actually recognized and remembered!
It's not just steven... The past few months of getting to know my teammates also made me realize the world out there is so diversified and vibrant. At the same time, so caring and helpful! We have been so sheltered and closed up in our own world. If i had just devoted my whole life to medicine alone, gosh! can't imagine the number of things i would've missed out.
Is it the sport? the ppl? prob more of the ppl cos i believe dragonboating wouldn't be so enjoyable for me if not for these fun-loving plk peops!
Sometime soon dragonboat may have to take the backseat in my life so that i can concentrate on exams and my career. Even so, i have no regrets cos... i have made so many valuable friendships and gained so much from the team!
