Apologies

Apologies for the lack of entry. Somehow the literary side of my brain seemed to have malfunctioned for a while. Maybe it still is, so i reckon this better be short and sweet.

okie.. updates... updates...

Work has been kind to me. Cos it's hungry ghost festival and pantang people dun like to schedule their operations during this time. One particular week i kept finishing my list at 1pm or better still, i actually had no list. but nope... we hafta report to emergency OT to help out until abt 4 or 5. well, that's still better than having a list that overruns till 8pm.

The traineeship interview panel has been even kinder to me. They actually decided to give me a chance to train as an anaesthetist. hmm... i wonder which aspect of my interview convinced them to do that. Anyway, nothing to be very proud of... seems that they awarded MOST of the applicants the traineeship. This hurdle is really nothing compared to having to tackle with the Mmed Anaesthesia Part 1 exams.

Alas! I caught the flu bug 2 wednesdays ago. I actually had chills and rigors in the OT while monitoring a patient on cardiopulmonary bypass. But stubborn me thought that just a URTI shouldn't stop me from going to work... especially when this cardiac surgeon was walking around with his leg brace and crutches in the OT. Like what all doctors do - self-medicate with their favourite cocktail of antihistamines, cough mixtures and lozenges- i trudged to work half-groggy and still coughing. I finally crumbled after a night call on monday. Despite having a really sweet team (of all guys! even the Anaesthetic Unit nurses!) who let me sleep the most, i ended up coughing every other second. Finally i had to take MC for the 2nd time in my medical career. Sleep and rest really does wonders. No amt of cough mixtures or antibiotics can compare to sleep.

Now i can't run the Nike human race even though i queued up 4 (?!?!?!) hours for the race pack on sunday. That's one thing that got me totally fired up!! It was purely POOR organization i think. The amt of time they took to scan our confirmation letter, get a number code then look for our designated race pack could very well be streamlined further. It was a bad idea to have the collection dates on sunday and monday too. argh! oh well... like i told nic, if this whole thing is abt endurance, i've passed the 1st test. sadly, looks like i hafta skip the real one.

okie... maybe after this entry, i'll have a mental block again. or sometimes life is just either too exciting for me to have time to blog or too boring to have nothing to blog about. let's hope it's the former!
