Changes

i've always thought changes are good if they're for the better. changes are sometimes good too cos they bring in new learning experiences. changes are necessary cos why stay stagnant when you can improve?

i totally understand that they want to improve the exam format to allow a "fairer" scoring system, to make sure it's a good assessment of our capabilities as HO's, etc. but must they change the format just 6 weeks before the exam and leave us with no time to adapt at all? is that what a uni striving to be world-class standard and one of the best unis in the region should be doing?

fine... implement the SIP as a mandatory posting before anyone can take the final exam at the beginning of final yr. i went along with it and i guess i agree that it was a pretty enriching experience. but they said it'll be a pass/fail posting. now that we've all completed it, they suddenly decided that the marks we get will contribute to 20% of the CA marks.

and the exam schedule... less than 6 weeks before the exam starts and we don't haf the exact schedule?!?!? my goodness... ppl in other faculties know the exact DATE and TIME of their exams for every single module BEFORE they bid for their modules and start their semester! and ppl in other uni know their entire schedule for the next few years of study BEFORE they start their first day of school!

guess what... we're all pissed at them for doing such things to us... we're all pissed at their inefficiencies... we're all pissed at them for telling us important things at the last minute and then write us off as "does that matter?"

but you know what... nobody's gonna do anything abt it. nobody's gonna start any rebellion to boycott the exams so they won't have any HO's next yr. cos we're all true-bred local students who do not have the word "rebel" in our dictionary. we obey rules... we listen to higher authorities... or sometimes we're jaded cos we think it won't change the situation anyway...

for me... i really wanna rebel and boycott the exams but i wanna pass the exams very badly too, get outta this STUPID school and system... (hopefully not to enter another suckier system)... that's why this stupid school and system goes scott free! HMPH!
