Gentle man

wow... i'm usually quite easily impressed. but i must say the past week has been a discovery of someone pretty impressive! so impressive that i hafta dedicate this blog entry to him. haha!

there are a lot of ppl who can speak well, answer well in tutorials, have good clerking techniques (these are the few capabilities i admire in many of my schoolmates). but i noticed there are so few guys who develop rapport easily and are absolutely gentle with kids. and the new partner i found recently is exactly like that!

he gains confidence from the parents by ensuring that he'll cause absolutely no discomfort to their kid. after gaining permission from the parents, he moves on to ask for permission from the kid himself! he plays with the kids, cajoles them, gives them stickers to build up rapport. while examining, he also constantly checks to make sure he's not hurting them. while giving instructions, he's not only non-commanding, he made it into a request and praises them for doing a good job and being cooperative. and his examination techniques are sleek and gentle at the same time.

it sounds so easy to know how to do all the above-mentioned but when it comes to actually doing it, many of us fumble here and there. this new partner of mine is such a natural! wow...

and from him, i'm learning a lot... on top of academic knowledge, communication skills and professional behaviour too. i've since learnt that it's definitely an eye-opener for me to work with new ppl and learn new good habits from them. this way, my learning capacity doesn't become stagnant in a comfort zone. there are so much more things happening out there for me to explore and learn!
