The extent I would go for beauty...

physical beauty is an asset. most sane ppl would rather be good-looking than average-looking. n i'm pretty sane i think.

with our advanced technology, there're so many ways to make urself look more beautiful. from the simplest ways like makeup, hairstyling to extreme measures like plastic surgery. Hmm... sometimes i question myself, to what extent will i go to make myself look better, more presentable?

let's deal with the definite no-no first...
Plastic surgery
i think whoever wanna go for plastic surgery can go ahead but i'll never make myself do that! of course it's easier for me to say since i haf my eyes, nose and mouth at the right places and i dun really abhor any part of my body... seems the right shape and proportion to me huh? haha!

well, maybe my eyes are a tad too small, my nose can be sharper... ladida... the list is never-ending if we get too picky right? see right... if we're picky, chances are after the surgery, we'll still be picky! so the eyes will never be big enough, the nose not sharp enough, etc etc. so why start the picking routine?

plus one thing that totally puts me off is to wonder: if someone thinks i'm beautiful, does he like looking at me or the masterpiece of Dr so-n-so? why place myself in such a dilemma right?

maybe can consider...
Make-up
this can either make or break one's look... really... if u can do it well and almost natural-looking, why not? problem with me is i'm lazy... to wake up early at 6am, struggle to shower, have an energy-providing breakfast, iron my clothes, pack my bag of steth, notes, books, labcoat n nametag (dun want Prof Tan blahblah to catch me in the corridors), etc. is already such a chore! i still have to put on make-up? no thanks man!!

n i know it's a point of no return once u start it. if u use it once, u'll never stand getting outta the house without any make-up from then on. what's more, cosmetics are EX! i just came across an article on make-up brushes in STYLE magazine. gosh... there's an eyebrow brush, blusher brush, foundation brush, powder brush, lip colour brush, eyeliner brush... any part of the head without a brush? (nope... hair has got hair brush too... hahaha! it's ears... ) so since i'm still a parasite in the family, i definitely shouldn't waste useful resources on things like tt...

but it's under "maybe"... cos i may consider it once i haf my own $$, or when it's a necessity (say functions or wat).

now for the sure-why-nots...
Hairstyling
i splurge on my hair... my frens will know tt. haha! think the hair is quite an important part of the body. it forms the frame for your face. if the style is off, no matter how nice a face u haf, it just spoils the whole image. plus different styles can really change your overall look! like how one can suddenly look much younger with nice short funky hair whereas look more mature with long wavy hair.

maybe one major plus point is whatever u do to ur hair is not permanent! u can style it like this now, but 3 months down the road, it'll outgrow itself and then u style it again! i love variety!! haha! and hairstyling is a perfect way to satisfy my need for variety!

Acne and scar treatments
haha! recently went for subcision... lemme justify my need for subcision then!

i'm one of those sad kids who got infested by P. acnes since puberty... those extremely resistant kinds somemore!! goodness knows how many types of antibiotics i took, topical creams i used and finally isotretinoin. becos it refuses to go away, i ended up having lotsa scars... (soap opera music playing...)

i must and will do whatever i can to get rid of the acne and scars... and hence, i'll go for whatever technology there are, as long as my skin can regain its original texture. is this considered a form of plastic surgery? definitely not! plastic surgery tries to create something tt's not even there in the first place, whereas scar treatments help to restore what was originally there, what normal ppl should haf. although even the best scar treatment to date can't give me back my baby smooth skin, any improvement in texture is enough for me!

it's a sad fact that society plays too much importance onto physical beauty. ppl will say that's why we must stand up against it and change that!! unfortunately, i'm a pessimist in this area... i think it's sooo deeply ingrained already. if u can't change it, join it! if u dun join it, u're outta it! haha!
